Captains Cup has been established in loving memory of Green Bay native Ashley Haws. A graduate of Bay Port High School and St. Norbert College, Ashley excelled both academically and athletically. She truly epitomized the title of ‘captain’ as she led both her SNC and Bay Port soccer teams to success on and off the field. Following her time at SNC, Ashley continued to chase her dreams of becoming a lawyer and eventually landed an Associate Attorney position in Chicago. Described as a rising star in the law community, Ashley was actively involved in many organizations. She continued to play in soccer leagues, never giving up the game she loved so much. 
Ashley was taken from us too soon and will be missed dearly. 

All proceeds from this memorial tournament will go to fund a scholarship in her name at St. Norbert College and WIUFC.

The first Captains Cup memorial soccer tournament, established in memory of Green Bay native Ashley Haws by her family and friends, took place on Sept. 27, 2014. On Dec. 1, Haws' parents, Sharon Haws and Gary Haws, and her friends Carmen Fiordellisi and Ann Maki presented a check for $3,813 -- the total proceeds from the tournament -- to St. Norbert College. The money will establish a scholarship in Haws' name for students from Bay Port High School who wish to attend the college. 

A graduate of Bay Port High School and St. Norbert College, Haws excelled both academically and athletically. She was captain of the soccer team at Bay Port High School for her junior and senior years of high school, and captain again for her junior and senior years of college with the St. Norbert women's soccer team. She graduated from St. Norbert College in 2009 with a major in psychology and a minor in communication. 

Following her time at St. Norbert College, Haws attended Valparaiso University School of Law in Indiana, and eventually gained an associate attorney position in Chicago. She continued to play in soccer leagues while beginning her law career. Haws lost her life in a boating accident in June 2014. 

The Captains Cup soccer tournament, subtitled "A Cause for Haws," was held at Bay Port High School. Each team (which could have up to ten members, with six on the field at a time) paid a team fee, and was guaranteed at least three games. Twelve teams, and100 players, took part in the event. 

In addition to collecting team fees, the event's organizers sold T-shirts and concessions, as well as tickets for a raffle. Raffle prizes included a Green Bay Packers jersey signed by Clay Matthews, and other sports memorabilia donated by local organizations. Davi Law, Haws' old law firm, and a variety of local businesses made donations to help defray the costs of the event.
