The Georgia Youth Soccer Association is pleased to invite your team to apply to the Atlanta Cup - Labor Day weekend, September 1-3, 2007. Now in its 29th year, the tournament has become one of the premier tournaments in the country offering competitive soccer for both boys and girls teams ages u10 through u19. You may register and submit your application on-line and pay by on-line Check, Visa or MasterCard. Once submitted you will receive confirmation that your application has been received. This confirmation does not guarantee acceptance into the tournament. You will be notified of acceptance by July 31, 2007. Registrations are accepted on-line only.

Just the facts

Tournament Eligibility
The Atlanta Cup is open to select teams, premier, classic, athena and academy registered and in good standing with their US Youth Soccer affiliated association. Age groups for this years’ tournament are u10, u11, u12, u13, u14, u15, u16, u17, u19 for boys and girls.

Divisions
Teams will be grouped according to past playing record to make the most competitive divisions possible. The Atlanta Cup Committee alone determines final placement. The Committee uses many factors when ranking teams including league playing division and record, State Cup and tournament results, USA Rank ranking service, etc.

Hotels

Teams that require lodging are required to stay in Atlanta Cup approved hotels. Reservations will be handled by Connections, our tournament housing company. Hotels, descriptions, and rates will be posted on the tournament website. Teams may book rooms after divisions are announced.

If there is a hotel where your team would like to stay –  and you do not see the hotel on our approved list -  just drop Connections a note and they will be happy to work with you.

Teams needing lodging will be required to show a hotel confirmation number at team check-in. All hotel information will be available on our website or you can call Connections at 404-842-0000 or 800-262-9974.

Teams
All teams and players must be US Youth Soccer affiliated for the ‘07-'08 seasonal year. US Youth Soccer roster and ‘07-‘08 player cards are required to participate. Notification of travel is required for all teams from out-of-state.

The computerized team application system will assign your age group based on the age of your oldest registered player.
 
Players and Guest Players
All players must by registered for fall ’07 -’08. A player may play for only one team during the tournament. A maximum of 3 guest players per team is allowed (2 guest players for teams playing 6v6 and 8v8). Guest players must be registered and have a current ’07-’08 player pass.


Format
U10s will play 6v6 – maximum roster size is 12 players. U11s and U12s will play 8v8 – maximum roster size is 14 players. U13, U14, U15 and U16 will play 11v11 - maximum roster size is 18. U17 and U19 will play 11v11 – maximum roster size is 22 players.


Awards
Individual awards for 1st and 2nd place teams in each competitive age division.

On-line registration:
On-line registrations are quick and easy. On-line registrations may be paid by check or credit card.  Once teams are sent to Committees or placement or your team is accepted, the entry fee is non-refundable. (If your team is not accepted, your entry fee will be returned in its entirety.) If your team withdraws prior to acceptance, your entry fee will be refunded, minus a $50.00 administrative fee.
While we encourage you to enter early, early application does not guarantee acceptance.

Refunds:
Refunds will be made to all teams not accepted.

Refunds will only be made if the tournament is cancelled due to weather or Acts of God, but approximatey one-half of the entry fee will be retained.

Once teams have gone to the Committee for placement or your team is accepted, the entry fee is non-refundable. If your team withdraws prior to the above, your entry fee will be refunded, minus a $50.00 administrative fee.

Schedules:

For travel preparations, a representative must check the team in on Friday evening, August 31. Teams will play two games on Saturday. The earliest game Saturday begins at 8:00 am. The last final on Championship Monday will begin at 2:00 pm. As much as we would like to help all teams, game schedules will not be adjusted to accommodate individual team scheduling or coach conflicts.

Guest players:
Guest players will be allowed as follows – u10, u11, u12 two guest players allowed. U13 and older three guest players allowed. Guest players must be registered with US Youth Soccer for the '07-'08 seasonal year and have player passes, etc.

Georgia Teams:
The Atlanta Cup is the largest fund-raiser for Georgia Youth Soccer each year and volunteers are critical to the success of the event. Each Georgia team accepted into the tournament is required to provide two volunteers (four hours total) to help during the tournament. There are many opportunities to help - before the tournament, during registration or at the the fields. Volunteers are scheduled so they will not miss any of their teams games. Once accepted, each Georgia team will complete the volunteer information form. The Atlanta Cup appreciates your support and willingness to help.

College Coaches:
The Atlanta Cup will prepare a book of team information for u16, u17 and u19 age teams to assist the college coaches in their scouting efforts. Please complete the necessary information on the college section of the website.
