Tournament Eligibility
The GIT Spring Invitational is open to select and premier teams registered and in good standing with their USSF affiliated association. Age groups are U9 - U19 Boys and Girls. 

Divisions
Teams will be grouped according to past playing record to make the most competitive divisions possible. The GIT Spring Invitational Committee alone determines final placement. The Committee uses many factors when ranking teams including league playing division and record, State Cup and tournament results, USA Rank ranking service, etc.

Teams
All teams and players must be USSF affiliated for the current seasonal year. USSF roster and current player passes are required to participate.  Each roster must include the numbers of the players' jeresey participating in the tournament.  Notification of travel is required for all teams from out-of-state unless you are a U.S. Club soccer member.

The computerized team application system will assign your age group based on the age of your oldest registered player.


Players and Guest Players
All players must by registered for the current seasonal year. A player may play for only one team during the tournament. A maximum of 3 guest players per team is allowed for U10 - U15.  5 guest players are allowed for U16 - U19.  Guest players must be registered and have a current season player pass.


Format
U10s will play 8v8 – maximum roster size is 14 players. U11s and U12s will play 8v8 – maximum roster size is 14 players or 11v11(U12 only) - maximum roster size is 18.

U13, U14, U15, U16, U17 and U19 will play 11v11 – maximum roster size is 18 players for U13 - U16.  U17 - U19 may have 22 players.


Awards
Individual awards for 1st and 2nd place teams in each competitive age division.

FEES AND DEADLINES

On-line registration:
On-line registrations are quick and easy. On-line registrations may be paid by check.  Once your entry is received and your team accepted, the entry fee is non-refundable.  (If your team is not accepted, your entry fee will be returned in its entirety.) While we encourage you to enter early, early application does not guarantee acceptance.

Refunds:
We will deposit all funds and return refunds to all teams not accepted.

Once your team has applied and accepted your entry fee is non-refundable.

Schedules:

Teams will play two games on Saturday. The earliest game Saturday begins at 8:00 am. The last final on Championship Sunday will begin no later than 3:30 pm. Game schedules will not be adjusted to accommodate individual teams scheduling.  We do our best to accomodate coaches with more than one team.

REFEREES
We are always looking for qualified referees. If you have anyone available to referee who will be traveling with your team, please have them refer to the referee tab on the website.

2015 Rules of Competition

Age and elegibility requirements are as follows:

Under 19- August 1, 1996 and younger

Under 18- August 1, 1997 and younger

Under 17- August 1, 1998 and younger

Under 16- August 1, 1999 and younger

Under 15- August 1, 2000 and younger

Under 14- August 1, 2001 and younger

Under 13- August 1, 2002 and younger

Under 12- August 1, 2003 and younger

Under 11- August 1, 2004 and younger

Under 10- August 1, 2005 and younger

                

Guest Players:

Each guest player must have a laminated player card.  U10 - U15 You may have three.  U16 - U19 you may have five.

                                                                                               

Laws of the Game:All games shall be played in accordance with FIFA Laws, except as specifically modified by these rules.  Unlimited substitution will be allowed with referee approval in the following situations: prior to throw-in by your team / prior to goal kick by either team / prior to the restart of the game after a goal scored by either team / at the start of the 2nd half of play / prior to a restart of the game after an injured player is removed from the field (either team may sub 1 for 1; not unlimited substitutes)

 

Duration of Games:

The duration of tournament games shall be in accordance with the following:

Field and Game Equipment:

A.  Players must wear numbers on the back of their uniforms and these numbers shall coincide with those listed on the teams’ official  approved roster.

B.  If in the opinion of the referee uniform colors are similar, the designated home team will change colors.  Home team is listed first on the schedule.

E.  The designated home team shall provide the game ball, unless tournament ball is available.

 

 THERE WILL BE NO PROTESTS ALLOWED

 

Conduct:

A.  Players, coaches and spectators are expected to conduct themselves within the spirit and the letter of the Law. Displays of temper or dissent are cause for ejection from the game and surrounding field area.

B.   Players, coaches and team officials ejected from a game by the referee shall be ineligible for the next scheduled game.  Any player or players ejected for fighting shall be ineligible for the remainder of the tournament.   All ejected players/coach’s cards will be held at soccer central until after suspension is served.

C.   All players and coaches will take one side of the field, and supporters will take the other side.  No one will be allowed behind either end line.  On the 8 v 8 Fields all teams and parents will sit on the same side.

D.   ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE NOT PERMITTED AT GAME SITES

 

Scoring:

Games will be scored (4) four points for a win, (1) point for a tie and (0) zero points for a loss. If a bracket winner and a wildcard come form the same division, they will be switched so the bracket winner plays the lowest seed division winner from another bracket. 

 

Tiebreakers:

A.   To determine preliminary winners and runners up, if necessary:

1.     Winner of head to head competition. (This criterion is not used if more than two teams are tied.)  If still tied:

2.     Most Wins

3.     Team with greatest net goal differential (NGD) which is computed as ‘goals for” minus ‘goals against’ with a maximum of 4 NGD in each game. If still tied:

4.     Fewest goals allowed in all games. If still tied:

5.     Most total goals scored (maximum of 4 goals scored in each game).

6.     Penalty kicks (FIFA rules)

 

In the case of a three-way tie in bracket play, one team shall be eliminated through the above tiebreakers and then the remaining two shall begin from tiebreaker number A2 above.

 

B.   To resolve ties at the end of regulation for semi-final and final games:

              1.   All tied matches will go straight to penalty kicks.  FIFA rules.

3.   Only players on the field of play at the end of play may participate in taking of the penalty kicks.

 

Failure to Show and Forfeits:

A.  A team shall be allowed a 10-minute grace period after the scheduled kick-off time before the match is awarded to their opponent.  A minimum of 7 players constitutes a team and if 7 players are present, the game will not be delayed.

B.   In no case shall a team that forfeits a game be declared a division winner or wild card team.  If an apparent division winner forfeits a game, the division team with the next best record shall be named the division winner.

C.   If a team is the cause for termination of a game, that team will be considered to have forfeited that game.

D.  A forfeit in the preliminary rounds shall be awarded as 4 points for the win to the opposing team.

E.     Forfeits of games in the playoff rounds shall be recorded as 1-0 scores.

 

Inclement Weather:

The tournament committee reserves the right to cancel or reschedule games or the entire tournament due to inclement weather conditions.  If the event is canceled entirely because of weather, we will refund a percentage of your entry fee. Teams will be refunded per game if the event starts and they play only one or two games.

MIDSOUTH FC SPRING GIT INVITATIONAL

The GIT Spring Invitational is our club’s spring premier event. We will play all the games at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex in Southeast Shelby County one of the finest soccer specific facilities in the Southeast. We will be accepting U10 - U18 Boys and Girls applications.

Get your Spring season off to a great start at a well run event all at one fabulous soccer complex. We continue to build off the successful formula of great fields and quality competition of our four Germantown Invitational Tournaments tournaments in the fall.
