Who is actually coming
The registered coach list is the single most useful page
attached to any showcase, and most families never open it.
When a college coach commits to attending an event, they register. That
registration is published on the event page as a list of programs, with
the division and the coach who is coming. It updates as more programs
sign up, right through the week of the event.
How to read it
Go through the list once and mark every program you would seriously
attend. Be generous at this stage. Include the schools you have not
heard of, the ones a long way from home, and the divisions you have not
thought about. A roster spot at a program that wants you beats a bench
at one that does not.
Then look at what those programs have in common. If eight of the ten you
marked are Division 3 schools in the Midwest, that tells you something
useful about where you should be spending your attention.
Check it more than once
Programs register late. A coach who was added ten days before the event
has heard from almost nobody, because most athletes checked the list
once, a month out, and never went back. That is an open door.
Look at the list when you register, again when you write to coaches,
and again the week of the event when the schedule is posted.
