My Community Outreach in the News
DESTINATION BOLINGBROKE: Sisters seek donations for children in need ---------- *By Vicki Smith - Dec 6, 2018* ---------- Aubrey and Gracie Bloodworth have an incredible selection of books ready to give to deserving children. Some of the books were donated and some they purchased with their own monies. ---------- Aubrey and Gracie Bloodworth are sisters who want to serve the impoverished children of their community. About two years ago, Aubrey began a literacy outreach known as Books with Belle. Through this program, Aubrey would dress as Belle from “Beauty and the Beast”, conduct a story-time with children in need, and encourage them to read by giving them each a free book to take home. Aubrey bought many of these books with her own money. As Gracie grew older, her desire to reach out to the community greatly increased. After recently speaking to a someone who works with children in need in Monroe County, Gracie discovered a need for books, stuffed animals, socks and toiletries. When the social workers perform in-person visits, they like to greet the children with items of comfort and care so that they know they are there to help. Unfortunately, there aren’t always enough of these items to meet the demand. As Gracie planned to begin an outreach to collect stuffed animals, socks and toiletries, Aubrey decided to forego her “Books with Belle” program and join efforts with Gracie. By doing so, Aubrey and Gracie will be able to meet the needs of many more homeless children in the Middle Georgia area. If you would like to donate any of these items (gently used stuffed animals and socks must be clean), please message us today and we can arrange a pickup time. Thank you for supporting Aubrey and Gracie, but, most of all, the homeless children of Middle Georgia. Email them at: booksbearslovecare@gmail.com or call 478-951-9550. Please see more photos and info of this dynamic duo on their Facebook Page: “Books, Bears, Love and Care”. Also, see Aubrey’s Facebook Page: “Magical Moments of Macon” if you would be interested in hiring her for your child’s next birthday party or a special event. She portrays the characters of Belle, Wonder Woman, the Island Girl, Rey and Marina the Mermaid. She has help from Spider Man, too. - The Monroe County Reporter -
