Frequently Asked Questions

1) What’s the best way to join a team?

To join a team you must first find a squad that is in need of a player.  The best way to do that is to contact an individual team and ask if they are looking for players.

Choose the skill level where you would be comfortable and then click on the individual team.  Once on the Team Page, if that team’s contact has chosen to make their info public, you may email them and start your search.

It is a good idea to include your age, gender (names aren’t always an indicator), experience, positions played, and anything else you would like a prospective team to know about you.

2) Why haven’t I heard back from any of the teams I contacted?

This usually means that the team(s) are not in need of a player.  It is a good idea to try again later in the season.

3) When is it too late to join a team?

NVASA employs an open and rolling registration process so it is never too late as long as you are able to find a team in need.

4) How can I enter my own team into the league?

Contact the league commissioner at: commish@nvasa.org

5) How much does it cost to play?

The player fee may vary slightly by season, but the cost is generally around $85 per player.  There is also an annual state association fee of $19 per year.

6) How many games are played in a season?

All teams play 12 games per season with the exception of the Masters Division teams which currently play 14 games per season.

7) How many men/women play on the field the same time?

A team can play with no more than 6 players of either gender on the field.  The typical gender breakdown is 6 men and 5 women on the field, although, 6 women and 5 men can be used as well.

8) Can I play for more than 1 team in the league?

Yes, you can play for more than one team in the league as long as they are not in the same division.

9) When does the season start?

The spring starts about mid March and the fall season starts in mid August.

10) Does NVASA have a winter league?

No, there is not a winter league run by NVASA.

11) How do I volunteer to help the league?

You can contact the commissioner or any of the board members based on the area you would like to help.  Contact information can be found on the Contact Us page

12) How can I become a league sponsor?

Contact the league commissioner at: commish@nvasa.org

13) How old do I have to be to play in the Masters Division?

Men must be 35 years of age during the calendar year in which they play.

Women must be 30 years of age during the calendar year in which they play.

For instance, a man turning turning 35 or a woman turning 30 in October 2012, is eligible to play in Masters during the Spring 2012 season.
