3V3 & 5v5 SOCCER OLE' TOURNAMENTS
Why 3v3 for ages U7-U12?
- Players make their own decisions.
- Soccer fundamentals (1st touch, trapping, passing, 1 vs. 1 skill).
- Field vision, balance and coordination.
- Transition from offense to defense in a small sided game.
- Understanding of positioning (movement on and off the ball).
- Encourage sportsmanship and team bonding
- Family entertainment
- Expose players outside of their comfort zone.
- Creativity
- Fun & enjoyment of the game.
Why 5v5 for ages U13 & Older?
- It is the smallest number of players that still allows for three passing directions: forward, sideways and backward. This is important because soccer is a three-directional game.
- It is the smallest number of players that gives us positional play: goalie, backs, midfielders & forwards.
- It keeps all players involved throughout the game by putting them under pressure for the entire game.
- There is nowhere to hide in 5v5 play - the players are forced to be actively engaged the whole time.
- Field players get more meaningful touches, as players are under constant pressure.
- Players have more chances to develop finishing skills, needing to beat a goalie to score.
- Goalies get more opportunities to defend and distribute the ball than in an entire season of full sided soccer.
- Accepted worldwide as the most effective game for developing youth players.
- The national youth game of Brazil, credited with creating the highest number of international superstars from one country.
Coaches and players agree - 3v3 & 5v5 soccer is the best way to develop players. Using a small field and maximizing player touches, 3v3/5v5 teaches players the game of soccer within the game of soccer.
Players leave each 3v3/5v5 session with a passion to learn more and play more!
