Darryl Longabaugh is entering his 29th season at the helm of the Lady Choctaw soccer program as the only women’s soccer coach in Mississippi College history. In 2024, Longabaugh guided the Lady Choctaws to an overall record of 8-6-3 and 4-5-3 in Gulf South Conference play. Senior midfielder Margherita Giubilato and sophomore defender Irene Lores earned All-GSC recognition, with Giubilato named First Team All-GSC and Lores Second Team. On October 10, 2021, Longabaugh celebrated his 300th career win as MC knocked off West Georgia 1-0. That fall, the Choctaws went 12-4 overall and earned the #2 seed in the GSC Tournament. They qualified for the NCAA Tournament as the #4 seed in the South Region, ultimately falling in a shootout to Florida Tech. The 2021 squad featured several standout performances, including Emma Young’s selection as a United Soccer Coaches First Team All-American, GSC Defensive Player of the Year, and GSC Top 10 honoree.

In the COVID-impacted 2020-21 season, MC posted an undefeated 8-0 record and won the GSC Spring Championship Series. The Choctaws outscored opponents 17-5 across the spring campaign and were ranked No. 2 nationally in the final coaches poll. Erin Hederman was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player, and she was joined by Emily McNair, Beatrice Currie, and Sara Maleski on the All-Tournament Team.

In 2019, MC went a perfect 12-0 in GSC play to win the regular season title and earned the #1 seed in the NCAA South Region. The Choctaws won a program-record 15 straight matches and finished 15-3 overall. Katie Taylor was named a First Team All-American and South Region & GSC Player of the Year. MC swept the GSC postseason awards and had multiple academic honorees, including the program’s first CoSIDA Academic All-Americans.

The 2018 season was historic as the Choctaws advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen, posting an upset win over top-seeded Barry. The squad earned a program-record 11 straight wins and allowed only 13 goals all season with a 0.64 GAA.
