Zach Ganzberg

Extension 3104

Zach Ganzberg is entering his seventh season as head coach of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's soccer program. In four seasons, Ganzberg has a 51-39-16 record, with MVNU improving in each season under his leadership.

Under Ganzberg, the MVNU men's soccer program was able to achieve 400 all-time wins on March 4, 2021 with a 2-1 victory over Rochestor University. Under Ganzberg, MVNU finished third in the Crossroads League in 2020-21.

MVNU also received votes for the NAIA Coaches' Poll in 2019, appearing in the October 16 version of the poll. Ganzberg and the Cougars had one of the most memorable nights in the history of the program on September 18, when they defeated #2 Rio Grande (Ohio) 2-0, handing the Red Storm their first regular season loss since 2017. This win, along with reaching double digit wins and appearing in the NAIA Coaches' Poll, propelled MVNU to a historic season.

Ganzberg came to MVNU after spending three years as the Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Bethel College (now Bethel University) in Mishawaka, Indiana. Ganzberg’s duties at Bethel included recruiting, compliance, training session preparation and execution, match analysis, and in-game tactical decision-making. In 2016, Ganzberg helped lead the Pilots to the Crossroads League regular season championship. This achievement is a familiar one to Ganzberg, as he has won the Crossroads League seven times as a player and as a coach. Ganzberg has coached in two NCCAA National Championship games, leading the Bethel Men’s Soccer team to national runners-up finishes in the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

In July of 2016, Zach was selected to the NSCAA “30 under 30” program, a group comprised of the 30 best soccer coaches under 30 years old in the country. Ganzberg has earned the USSF F, E, and D licenses, as well as the NSCAA National and Advanced National Diplomas.

Ganzberg, a native of South Bend, Indiana, is a 2011 graduate of Bethel College with a degree in pre-law/psychology. During his playing career at Bethel, Ganzberg was an ESPN/CoSIDA First Team Academic-All-American, one of 11 soccer players selected nationwide across all levels. Ganzberg was the 2010 Crossroads League Offensive Player of the Year, a 2010 NAIA All-American, two-time NCCAA All-American, and team MVP.

Most recently, Ganzberg completed his course requirements for the dual MBA/M.Min program at MVNU, earning both degrees in July of 2019. In his free time, Ganzberg is an avid reader, frequent traveler, and cherishes most time spent with his three girls: his wife Rebekah, his two-year-old daughter Leighton, and their dog Harper. Ganzberg and his family reside in Apple Valley.

Soccer in College gave me a good point of reference for perspective coaches, somewhere I could direct them to see all of my data, in a well-organized, efficient manner. It was a good tool for my recruiting efforts.
