Nick Finotti

Nick Finotti (fin-nah-tee) is in his second season at the helm of Presbyterian’s men’s soccer program. Finotti was announced as Presbyterian’s third head coach in the Division I era on January 24, 2023.


Finotti has over 20 years of coaching experience.


In his first season at Presbyterian (2023), three players earned First Team All-Big South Conference accolades while Damorney Hutchinson was the Big South Newcomer of the Year and Victor Faaborg Christensen was Big South Freshman of the Year which marked the first time in the program’s history that a Blue Hose player earned either award. Christensen was named College Soccer News Freshman All-American. In his first game as Presbyterian’s head coach, the Blue Hose set several school Division I era offensive records in the win over Southern Wesleyan (August 24, 2023).


In December of 2023, Finotti was named the technical advisor for the South Region for the Boys' United Soccer Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP). Finotti has served as a head coach in the South Region U.S. ODP program since 2009. In that role, he has been responsible for identifying, evaluating, and coaching the best players in the South Region of the United States.


Before taking charge of Presbyterian’s program, Finotti spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Wofford College (2019-22). During his time at Wofford, Finotti helped recruit and coach two players who were named Southern Conference Freshman of the Year, ten All-Southern Conference selections, and 11 Southern Conference All-Freshman team selections.


Before joining the Wofford coaching staff, he had spent 15 years (2005-19) as the co-director of the boys’ ECNL program at the Carolina Elite Soccer Academy. While at CESA, he was head coach of three teams and coached over 200 players who would play college soccer and eleven players who went on to play professional soccer. He led teams to four USYS Premier League Championships and 16 South Carolina state championships.


From 2002-07, he spent five seasons as head coach at Northwestern and Greenville High Schools. He won 118 games, and five region championships while making two appearances in the state championship game. He earned South Carolina Coach of the Year honors twice and was a five-time Region Coach of the Year selection.


Finotti began his coaching career with three seasons as an assistant coach at Lander University from 2000-02. During his time at Lander, he coached two All-Americans and helped guide the team to the 2001 National Quarterfinals.


The Sumter, South Carolina native graduated from Coker College in 1998 with a degree in education and earned a master’s degree in education from Lander in 2004. He played college soccer at Methodist, where he played an integral role on a team that reached the 1995 Division III National Championship game, and at The Citadel.


Finotti holds a USSF Coaching “A” License and a United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Diploma.


Finotti and his wife, Allie, have two adult children a daughter, Halie, and a son, Micah.

Jake Douvas

Jake Douvas is in his first season as an assistant coach for the Presbyterian College men’s soccer program. Douvas came to PC after spending the previous year with Major League Soccer’s New England Revolution. He was a part of the Wofford coaching staff with Coach Finotti for three years before his time with the Revolution.


“I would like to welcome Jake to PC,” Finotti said. “Having worked previously with Jake for three years, I look forward to his impact on our program's culture, operations, and performance. Jake has gained valuable experience at the NCAA Division 1 and USL 2 levels, as well as the professional level with the New England Revolution this past year. Jake will prove to be a wonderful fit for me, our players, and our athletic department as his core principle is to serve others.”


For the past year, Douvas was the video analyst for the New England Revolution 2 in MLS NEXT PRO. In that role, he helped scout upcoming opponents, provided match day analysis for the coaching staff, and assisted with academy training sessions.


Douvas was on the Wofford coaching staff as an assistant coach with Coach Finotti from 2020-22.


During his time at Wofford, he worked with the SC United Bantams in the USL League 2, where he assisted in training and activation for the team and pre/post-match video analysis. The Bantams captured the 2021 South Central Conference championship during this time. He was also an assistant coach for the SC United FC ECNL ’06 team for the 2019-20 season.


Before SC United, he spent the 2018 season as an assistant coach for Quincy College in Massachusetts, helping Quincy make an NCJAA postseason appearance. In 2018, he coached at Gann Academy leading them to the 2018 MBIL championship and the NEPSAC semifinals. He began his coaching career with the GPS Massachusetts for three seasons.


Douvas played for the Rhode Island Reds FC in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) from 2015-17 and helped them to a third-place finish in the Northeast Conference in 2016. He also played for the New Hampshire Bobcats in the UPSL and played in the U-19 USYS Region I 2015 championships after winning the Rhode Island state championship.


The Lexington, Massachusetts native graduated from Bentley University with a bachelor’s degree in business management in 2018 and a master’s degree in sports management from the University of South Carolina in 2020.


Douvas holds a USSF “B” coaching license and a Welsh FA “C” coaching license.

Joshua Pooler

Pooler has six years of coaching experience and is in his first season as an assistant coach with both Presbyterian’s soccer programs. His primary responsibility is coaching the goalkeepers.


"I would like to thank (PC Men’s Soccer) Coach Nick Finotti, (PC Women’s Soccer) Coach Matt Smith, and the Presbyterian athletic department for giving me this exciting opportunity to work with the men’s and women’s soccer programs here at PC,” Pooler said. “I am grateful for the chance to work under two highly experienced head coaches. I am very much looking forward to helping create something special with each program and being able to contribute and grow as a coach while serving on both coaching staffs."


Pooler comes to Presbyterian after spending the 2023 season as an assistant coach at Southwest Mississippi Community College in Summit, Miss. He helped guide Southwest Mississippi to its first playoff appearance in six years. As the goalkeeper coach, he coached players that earned National Goalkeeper of the Week honors once and Conference Goalkeeper of the Week accolades four times.


Before Southwest Community College, he spent one year on the coaching staff at Southeastern Community College in Burlington, Iowa. In 2022, he helped coach two players who earned All-American honors while leading Southeastern to the best record in the program’s history. He began as the assistant coach and goalkeeper coach and was the interim head coach for Southeastern’s appearance in the NJCAA DII National Tournament.


Before beginning his college coaching career, he was an assistant coach for two seasons with both the boys’ and girls’ teams at Willow Hill School in Sudbury, Mass. He spent time as the head high school and middle school girls' coach for Challenger Sports in Harvard, Massachusetts. Before that, he was head boys’ coach at Nichols Middle School in Middleboro, Massachusetts for two years.


The Middleboro, Massachusetts native graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education from Eastern Nazarene College in 2022 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Lyndon State College in 2017. At Lyndon State, he played soccer and hockey for two seasons.


Pooler holds a United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Level 2 Diploma and a USSF Coaching “D” License.
