Katie Chambers was hired as head coach of the Rhodes College women's soccer program on June 17th, 2016. The 2018 season will be her third at the helm of the Lynx.
Chambers came to Rhodes from Gettysburg College, where she served as the assistant coach for one season with focus on the goalkeepers. She was also a key in the Bullets defensive tactics throughout the year.
The Bullets amassed a record of 10-2-6 including a 7-2-1 mark in the Centennial Conference. Gettysburg finished sixth in the nation in goals-against average .305 including 12 shutouts in 18 games.
Before Gettysburg, Chambers was at Misericordia University, where she served as a graduate assistant in 2013 and 2014.
As the goalkeepers coach, she helped the Cougars capture back-to-back Freedom Conference titles before reaching the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division III championship tournament in both seasons.
During her two years at Misericordia, the Cougars finished 38-6-3 and 13-0-1 in Freedom Conference matches.
Chambers also gained additional experience as the head women's soccer coach at Wahlert Catholic High School from 2011-13, a student assistant women's soccer coach and goalie coach at Loras College in 2012, and as a youth soccer trainer for the U-11 and U-13 Back Mountain Youth Soccer Association girls club teams from 2013-15.
A native of Sleepy Hollow, Ill., Chambers is a 2012 graduate of Loras College, where she graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in physical education and a minor in coaching. A standout goalie, she was a two-time All-Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) selection, capturing first-team honors as a senior in 2011.
She was selected as a team captain during her senior campaign, when she also received NCAA Division III All-Midwest Region honors. She helped lead the Duhawks to a pair of IIAC titles and a berth in the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2010.
