An event founded on passion, dedication, and an unending love for the game of soccer. Jack Kicks Cancer Inc. proudly presents a memorial tournament honoring Jack Blake and his countless hours of dedication to the game of soccer, throughout his life and in the community.

Jack Blake was a coach to some, but an inspiration to all. Being involved with the sport from an early age led Jack to numerous achievements, such as nomination as an All-American captain of a Division 1 National Champion, National team player in the Pan American games of 1971, and a Hall of Fame induction at Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville in the fall of 2006. Just recently Jack was inducted into the St. Louis Hall of Fame.

After moving to Wheaton with his family, it wasn’t long before Jack made a name for himself among the youth soccer community. His endless time, patience, and dedication for teaching kids about the game of soccer left a lasting impression on us all. Inspired by Jack’s devotion to the game of soccer, a field was dedicated in his honor at Seven Gables Park to recognize his tireless service.

Sadly, Jack’s career came to a screeching halt when he was diagnosed with cancer in the winter of 1996. After a very brief, but hard fought battle with the disease, Jack passed away May 4, 1997. He is survived by his wife Bev, and his kids, Jack, Tim and Meghan, on top of the endless amounts of lives that he touched during his time as a father and coach.

JACK KICKS CANCER is our way of carrying on the legacy that Jack Blake left behind. Even though he isn’t here physically, he is still alive through his life lessons and his love for the game of soccer that continues on in our hearts.
