North Carolina Youth Soccer Association (NCYSA) and Wilmington Hammerheads Youth Soccer (WHYFC) are proud to announce and introduce The NCYSA Carolina Strong Festival: a weekend soccer festival to be held in Wilmington on November 17th and 18th that will raise funds for those affected by Hurricane Florence.
The NCYSA Carolina Strong Festival will replace the 2018 WHYFC Beach Classic and will be held in Wilmington on November 17th and 18th and open to ALL USYS / US Club and Affiliate Clubs.
Due to Hurricane Florence, nearly 200 games were cancelled throughout North Carolina. Along with that, Coastal families were forced to evacuate with complete uncertanity of what they would return to, and when. As a result, NCYSA and WHYFC partnered to accommodate and host all NCYSA games throughout the state that were cancelled due to the Hurricane.
In addition to these make-up games the event is open to teams who were not affected by the Hurricane but would like to participate and support the event.
Along with the cancelled NCYSA games that will be made up, the event will be open to teams who did not have games cancelled or particiapte within NCYSA. All teams will be guaranteed two games during the event (1 on Saturday and 1 on Sunday). If you only had one game cancelled because of the Hurricane, you will make this game up, and then you will get an additional non-counting game. For those interested in registering and supporting the event, you will be provided two games over the course of the weekend.
Teams are asked for a $250 donation for this event. The money raised from this weekend be distributed to coastal clubs affected by the Hurricane.
This festival came about during the Hurricane weeks when two things were apparent: (1) Coastal communities will need help rebuilding and (2) A lot of NCYSA games were cancelled due to the Hurricane, and will need to be re-scheduled.
We are very proud that we were able to put an event like this together and hope that it brings the soccer community together to support all of those affected. If you have friends, family, contacts who would like to be a part of this event, please pass this on. The more support we can get, the more money we can distribute to those who need it.
