Stephen McGill is entering his second season as the head men's soccer coach at Thomas More University during the 2020-21 academic Year.
In his first season as the head coach, McGill led the Saints to a 5-11-1 record, including an 0-7-1 mark in the Mid-South Conference.
Prior to being named head he spent the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Thomas More, including the last half of the 2018 season as the interim head coach. While serving as the interim head coach he guided the Saints to the American Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) tournament championship. McGill also helped lead the Saints to the 2017 Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) championship and an appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship as an assistant coach. During his two years at Thomas More, he served as the recruiting coordinator for the Saints.
Prior to Thomas More, McGill as a graduate assistant coach at Northern Kentucky University from 2013 to 2014. He helped guide the Norse to a second place finish in the Atlantic Sun Conference during the school’s transition to NCAA Division I. McGill has also served time as an assistant coach at Turpin High School, Newport Central Catholic High School and McNicholas High School. He has coached club soccer for Kings Hammer Soccer Academy and currently works with Northern Kentucky Soccer Academy.
In 2006 he was the Ohio State High School Player of the Year at Turpin High School, while also being named NSCAA All-American in 2006. He played collegiately for one year at Bucknell University and three seasons at Northern Kentucky. While at Northern Kentucky, he was a member of the 2010 NCAA Division II National Championship team.
McGill is a 2012 graduate of the Northern Kentucky as he major in international studies and minored in political science. He holds a USSF E License and is a member of the Hall of Fame at Turpin High School and his 2010 Northern Kentucky team is in the Northern Kentucky University Hall of Fame.
